Begin with a bounded job.

“Build an onboarding flow for this engagement” is easier to review than “Handle this client.” Give the assistant the goal, the required information, and the outcome you want. Ask for a draft or a plan before using it in a live client relationship.

Use Copilot where the work is being built.

A flow-building assistant can help structure questions, add steps, and prepare draft agreements. The useful part is the conversation: explain what is missing, refine the wording, and check the result in the client-facing preview.

Connect only the access the job needs.

An assistant connected through MCP acts through the tools available to the account. Scope its key to the workspaces it needs, and remember that your account permissions still matter. A narrow task should not require unrelated client information.

Keep the source of a decision nearby.

Imported meeting notes and client conversations provide context, but they are not automatically a complete specification. Before turning a discussion into an action, check names, dates, deliverables, and who is expected to do what.

Choose a clear handoff for automation.

For repeated workflows, identify the trigger, the action, and how the result is recorded. API calls and webhooks work best when the team can tell what happened and what still needs attention. Keep a human review for commitments that require judgment.

Put it into practice.
